Become a Member of the Friends of the Winchester Writers' Conference

This independent group of writers work together to raise funds that are awarded as a limited number of bursaries to writers who wish to attend the Winchester Writers' Conference but who need partial support.

Funds are provided by gifts from writers who have benefitted by attending this major international Festival of Writing; those who have become published as a result of the conference or those who have appreciated the help that has been given to them are invited to 'give back a little' to help the next aspiring author. Companies, societies and organizations are also invited to contribute to these bursaries in recognition or in memory of a writer or a speaker.

The Friends meet socially once a year at a Writers' Soiree with an invited author as speaker.

Those who wish to contribute any amount to The Bursary Fund or become a member of the the Friends should write, phone or email initially to Barbara Large, Founder-Director, Winchester Writers' Conference, Research and Knowledge Exchange Centre, the University of Winchester, Winchester, Hampshire S022 4NR ++44 (0)1962 827238 email Barbara.Large@winchester.ac.uk

Those who wish to apply for a partial bursary should write a letter specifying the following:
Your writing experiences
Classes you have attended
Writing organisations to which you belong
Writing successes
Your objectives for the future and your reasons for applying

Deadline to receive your application is 5 pm 26 May. Successful applicants will receive a £50 voucher which they can apply to defray the expenses of the Winchester Writers' Conference weekend.
