How To Find Us
By Car
Visitors travelling from the north, south or east of Winchester
should approach the University from junction 11 of the M3 and
proceed along B3335, following signs for Winchester. Pass through
St. Cross, crossing over the traffic lights. After passing the
BP petrol station take the first turning on the left (Ranelagh
Road). Pass under the railway bridge into Airlie Road and take
the right fork into Sparkford Road. The University is on the left
hand side half way up the hill of Sparkford Road.
Visitors travelling from a westerly direction should approach
Winchester along the Romsey Road. After passing the Royal Hampshire
County Hospital turn immediately right into St James Lane. Just
after a sharp corer turn right into Sparkford Road. The University
is half way down the hill on the right hand side.
Free parking: passes will be sent with delegates' packs.
By
Train
Winchester is less than one hour by train from London (Waterloo).
Direct services also link Winchester with the major towns and
cities
of Southampton, Portsmouth, Bath, Bournemouth, Exeter, Birmingham,
Manchester, Shefield, Leeds, York, Newcastle, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
The University of Winchester is less than one mile (approx. 10
minutes walk) from the railway station. Leave the railway station
by the main exit and turn right into Station Road leading to Upper
High Street, Turn right over the bridge and left into Clifton
Terrace. Cross Romsey Road and walk along St James Terrace, cross
the road and take the footpath through West Hill Cemetery. The
University is situated opposite the far gate of the cemetery.
By
Taxi
Taxis are regularly available from the Railway Stations and King
Alfred's Statue in the city centre. Request University Main Reception.
By
Bus & Coach
Main bus and coach routes stop at King Alfred's Statue in central
Winchester, the walk to the University takes approximately 15
minutes. On alighting proceed along Broadway in the direction
of, and through, the pedestrianised High Street. At the junction
with Southgate Street turn left. Cross St Clements Street and
take the next right into St James Lane. Proceed up the hill and
just after the narrow railway bridge take the footpath through
West Hill Cemetery. The University is situated opposite the far
gate of the cemetery.
By
Air
The international airport of Southampton is less than 10 miles
from
Winchester and can be reached in 15 minutes by road or rail. The
University is also well placed for the international airports
of Heathrow and Gatwick.
